Leaf Festival
Who knew there was such a thing?? This past Saturday morning we went to a huge park in Spokane for the Leaf Festival. They had a giant pile of leaves for children to play in. Jayden wasn't sure what to do and just watched the other children. We also learned all about
composting and got a free compost bin to set up and start our own pile. It was a fun fall activity.
I love the fall - I love the colors and the leaves and the crisp weather! Everytime this year I'm reminded how much I love this season.
Kirsten's 10th Birthday - Oct 14th
Happy 10th Birthday Kirsten!!!
(I know it's late - but for her birthday we were at her house and I didn't take the time to post.)
She's getting so big! I can't believe how old she is - it seems like just yesterday she was a baby.
Tim's Birthday - BIG 25!!
Two weekends ago (Oct 11-14th) we drove to Amanda's parent's house to celebrate mine (Tim) and Kirsten's (Amanda's sister), birthdays. We had a lot of fun spending time with family and having a break from school. I especially liked the break from school part!
For my birthday we took Amanda's sister Heather and her friends up to Seattle and it didn't work out as planned but we still had fun. At least we got some mudslide, which is this fantastic concoction of Rice Krispies, marshmallows, chocolate chips, white chocolate, and peanut butter.
Later that day we went shopping for a new suit, a sports jacket, and some slacks. I insisted that I neaded more ties! When we got to the register Amanda's mom said she would pay for it. Originally she was going to pay for the gas that it would take to drive over there to visit them. So since her mom paid for the clothes, Amanda was to pay for the gas. So that's what I got, yep two whole tanks of regular unleaded gas! I bet that's on everyone's wish lists!
I figured that we were just going to have a generic store cake because Heather was making this special cake for Kirsten, for Sunday. Well, I was wrong! The cake that she had been working on for the past few days was for me. It was shaped like a present and had pieces of fondant for decoration. It even has this big fondant bow on the very top!! Though it was a little bit. . . orange, it was pretty good!

Waterfront Park
Yesterday since the weather was warm and nice we decided to go to Spokane's Waterfront Park. For those of you who don't know there is a river that runs through downtown Spokane and a nice park along the river. Jayden liked the ducks but didn't want to get to close.
We went on the sky ride and Tim was able to get some great pictures of Spokane Falls. The ride takes you across the river right next to the falls. Jayden and I both got a little scared because the ride kept stopping in the most inconvient places, Tim thought it was funny. There is nothing funny about being 20 feet above a busy road or on the edge of a cliff.
There's a great tot sized jungle gym on one end of the park that was his perfect size. Jayden enjoyed himself and when it was time to leave he threw a fit.
There is a huge wagon that had a slide and monkey bars underneath. Jayden went up several times and loved the long slide.
It was a very cute park that we'll have to visit once it gets warm again. I loved the trees since they're all turning colors it was a great way to spend the afternoon.
